Church family,
Every one of us is chasing something we hope will last. We pour ourselves into our work, our families, and the next thing on the calendar, hoping it adds up to something solid. This Sunday we start a new series in a book written by a man who chased all of that harder than we ever will, and wrote down what he learned.
The series is Remember: The Wisdom of Ecclesiastes for the Soon Forgotten. Thirteen Sundays, straight through the book. Ecclesiastes asks the questions we usually keep quiet: What lasts? What is all this work for? Where do we turn when life does not make sense? It is honest about how hard those questions are, and it points us back to God.
Come Sunday with your real questions, and bring a friend who has them too.
It is a full week, and a good one. This Sunday afternoon we ordain Isaac Sharp, and I hope this whole church family will be there to surround him. Sunday evening at 5:00 we gather for our Family Gathering and potluck, and we launch our new church app. And this Wednesday at 6:00 the whole church, every age together, gathers for family worship as we look at the topsy-turvy kingdom of God, where the last are first and the smallest places matter most.
Come Sunday ready to begin.
In the Peace of Christ, Pastor Garrison

This Sunday, August 16 · 3:00 PM · Hill Ridge Baptist Church
The Ordination of Isaac Sharp
This Sunday afternoon we set Isaac apart in an ordination service, affirming God’s call on his life and laying hands on him as a church family. This is one of the good and weighty things a church gets to do together. Come be part of it, and come ready to pray for him. The service is at Hill Ridge Baptist Church this Sunday at 3:00.

Family Worship, the Topsy-Turvy Kingdom
August is family worship, the whole church in one room, every age together, no dinner or classes. This week we sit in the topsy-turvy kingdom of God, the upside-down world Jesus describes where the last are first, the small are great, and the forgotten are the ones God keeps. Bring the kids and come as you are.
