Church family,
Yesterday the Teacher settled the question hanging over chapter 6: who knows what is good for man?
The answer is one sentence long. Since God shows us what is good, we must trust his way over our own.
That is the whole argument of chapter 7. Our judgment about what is good is broken. We call the party good and the funeral sad, but the Teacher says the house of mourning teaches what the house of feasting never can. We call our anger justified and our nostalgia wise, but pressure never excuses the temper and yesterday was not as good as we remember. We call the good day a blessing and the bad day a mistake, but God made them both. We call strict religion safety and quitting honesty, but neither is wisdom. The fear of God is.
Here is the hard part, and the Teacher does not soften it. The righteous perish and the wicked prosper, and he leaves that unresolved. He does not explain it. He tells us to trust the God who made us upright, confess that we bent ourselves, and look to Jesus, who lived straight in our place.
You do not know what is good. I do not either. God does. Trust him this week.

This is the final day. Every dollar stays in Louisiana. The 2026 state goal is $1.8 million.
This year’s work includes Boxes of Hope, a women’s prison ministry; Vietnamese Hope Baptist Church; New Friendship Baptist Church as it is being rebuilt; and Church Acadiana. The offering also plants churches, serves meals after storms, helps congregations build, trains ministers, and puts the gospel on the air.
